Chimes for Charity

“Chimes for Charity” is an ongoing project led by our seniors’ desire for community outreach. “Chimes for Charity” raises funds for multiple charities through our resident’s hand painting sea shell wind chimes.  These wind chimes are sold to families, employees and visitors, as well as, at our local farmers market. 100% of the proceeds are donated to charities of resident’s choosing. This year, our seniors elected to donate $1000 dollars to four charities: The Ronald McDonald Children’s Hospital, National Breast Cancer Foundation, Alzheimer’s Association, and the American Heart Association. Our residents held a donation ceremony where the charity representatives were presented donation checks.

Our “Chimes for Charity” project not only created beautiful pieces of functional art, but gave a deeper sense of fulfillment and purpose to our residents. Our seniors have varying physical and mental capacities; however, this did not hinder their participation. This program creates an opportunity to give back, foster self esteem, and self worth for our seniors.

It has been our pleasure creating these wind chimes, and being able to sell them for a charitable cause. We have put so much effort into each sea shell, making sure each one was perfect.
